I Surrendered

I surrendered to my breath.
Found the real me lying beneath.
I relaxed into the calmness,
Felt the energy release.

I let thoughts run wild then die,
And allowing mind such freedoms
I released pain which lurked inside,
And set free those inner demons.

I stopped fighting what I’m feeling,
I just let the body go.
And beneath I found the real girl,
The girl I’d buried long ago.

Hello old self, and how I’ve missed you,
Missed your innocence and wild,
Curiosity and wonder, smothered
When I forgot that inner child.
